If you are looking for a manual on the fixed income products and how they work this is the book to start with. Frank Fabozzi is the writer of most of the study books for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams and is considered to be one of the best educators in the fixed income space. Yes this is dry textbook material, yes I would rather read mystery novels or simple self help books; but every once and a while I need to brush up on my skills and I pick of a really serious book. Fixed Income Mathematics is the book I hand to all of my new hires and consultants so that they can quickly get the understanding needed to be effective in developing software to support the traders of these products. No this book will not turn you into a master trader of fixed income products, that is not the purpose. Fixed Income Mathematics will give you a foundation, if you work for an investment company they should have additional research and training materials that you can build upon once you have mastered the fundamentals taught here.

I work in Equity research and recently had to move over to Fixed income. Two things happened at this stage - (a) Work-pressure dictated that I learn FI (b) I started taking a course from NYSU.Thus, this review is applicable to both sets of people - those who're learning and those who are working.The language - is very free-flowing and easily can be grasped.The alma-mater - very, very professionally presented. Without spending too much time covering the absolute basics, i.e. taking the subject from ground-zero, he covers each topic from a perspective of an intelligent reader. Quickly covers the basics, the derivation explanation and then the core equation. The equation is very heavily exploded through various examples and situations. TERRIFIC stuff... really what "hits" you in work.Critical areas which he has carefully covered this particular edition has the VERY BEST COVERAGE on the latest developments related to: (missing in prev. edition)* Interest rates and their modelling.* Credit risk concepts (CDS, etc. also explained)\ * Pre-payment modelling - perhaps the only book covering this ever-important subject, esp. relevant nowadays.* Corporate bonds and their measures of risk* MBS Structuring - don't know any book covering this!The best - tracking errors and multi-factor risk-models... the models and techniques explored here, though rudimentary gives you that 1 single-aspect on every analyst's mind .. i.e. fear of errors. Where it might happen, how to mitigate it, pre-empt it.

That is the best book ever about fixed income. This is a MUST read book...

I bought this book because it had excellent reviews and the few pages I read seemed somewhat sensible. However, I received the book. It doesn't even make sense. It's a difficult book to read. I don't like books that write in a clever way that you miss the point. It defeats the purpose of being an author. This book is a bunch of intellectual masturbation. I'll study the material myself and write my own book. This is not a good book. It's written in a complicated matter. Throws all the math in it making investing appear more difficult than what it is. This book is not a practical application book. More theory than anything else. Teach me how bonds work and not theory written in a book.

This terrific book is a "must-have" for filmmakers, be they fiction or non-fiction, documentary or dramatic. To those not in the legal profession, the matter of copyrights and clearances seems like a dark, scary jungle we all wish we didn't have to go through but authors Michael Donaldson and Lisa Callif are there like friendly guides to help you stay out of danger and get to the other side safely. Co-written by one of the master architects of "Fair Use" for documentarians, why make your film making journey all the more treacherous? Mr. Donaldson discusses his heroic efforts that brought Errors and Omissions Insurance companies into the world of documentaries. He certainly deserves a medal for that! This book is quite an enjoyable read, full of real-world examples that will often amaze you. Yes, even the big boys of the feature film world get bit from time to time. Learn from their mistakes. You'll be told quite clearly what you can do, can't do, must do and must not do. If I had read this before I started to make my film, I'd probably have enjoyed the journey a lot more!

Solid. Real world advice by those who are actually doing it. I beg you, the true indie to read it, twice. Somebody has to tell you to about the real world. Downloading the forms if you have the hard copy like I did could be a little clunky but it's worth the effort to type out the links. I assume the Kindle version might be a click away to the forms. You got the script, you want to get your project going, don't mess it up on a legal technicality that will kill your deliverables. I have nothing to do with Donaldson's law firm and as an indie producer I insist you read it and also check out all the great and real advice they have on YouTube too.

I am the co founder of Chippendales and during that time dealt with our trademarks a great deal. After selling that I was a music lawyer and now I do business affairs and project development in films. Michael and Lisa's book is terrific. It is my go to bible for matters of clearance and copyright. It is so detailed that a screenwriter was having problems filing a copyright and I was able to open to the chapter in the book and walk her through it on the phone. The downloadable forms are an added plus. This book is a must for anyone involved in the business side of making films, TV or music

I had the 3rd edition and could not figure out why I should upgrade. The film clips alone are one of the sole reasons you should get this book. The boilerplate contracts are a nice touch, but it really comes down to understanding what conversation one should have with your attorney. Tons of information to sift through. Great book!

using this as a reference text while I'm in graduate school earning my MFA. I'm so glad I purchased it. The book delves into fair use, familiarity, and basic copyright theory without giving me too much information. It is well-organized and written by an expert in the field. For film and television writers, this book, IMHO, is indispensable.

Great book and helpful information. Only problem is the table of contents didn't make for easy reference (it could have been more detailed by subject and sub-subject). For example, I wanted to find the copyright laws surrounding the non-diegetic use of a cover song in a film. I never did find the answer in this book on that.

This book can be really boring if you're not into entertainment law, but it is super informative and useful. If you want to go into entertainment law or be a producer, it is super important to read and gives a good, relevant overview

Those who do are happily driven by the principles referred to in this book. I spent countless hours in heat, humidity, and occasional raging thunder storms to help bring happiness to our guests. It was great fun to sneak up behind a harried father who was attempting to get his weary children to smile for the camera. A few quick mugs from me almost always brought the grins Dad was looking for. Offering helpful directions. Keeping a straight face when asked "interesing" guestions: "Is that real water?" "No, Ma'am, that's Disney water!"A highlight of my life was walking through the Imagineering building in Burbank and witnessing first-hand the creative genius of the Disney organization. The amount of design work done to ensure seamless transitions between the areas of the parks is huge. Also the work that has gone into avoiding incongruous back scenes, and abrupt transitions is noteworthy. The audience's attention is never distracted unnecessarily.Efficiency is process management by Disney team mange the flow of people through their locations. The detail with which Disney tracks this is awesome- they know how many people to expect in each bit of their park, and what they will want and need- and plan ahead to meet it. The cast then make it look easy, but there's a detailed process behind it.This book describes well how Disney achieves its quality of service and if you want a bit of that magic to rub off onto you read this book, and learn. I had heard of the technique in several places, including Tim Ferris's 4 Hour Body. I read reviews of several similar books before making this purchase. The authors provide just enough of the science and theory along with great pictures of the exercises both at home and at the gym using machines. I use the machines and in 3 weeks, I lost 3" around my back. Every workout, I either use more weights or do more repetitions for each exercise EACH session. I highly recommend you download a free metronome app to your phone. I just did my first workout with the metronome and it helped me standardize the exercises even more. Of course, I'm a BIG FAN of working out only every 6 days! I also like that the book was not sensational...not ONE before and after picture...about two pictures of people who were not demonstrating the moves. I have never liked gyms or machine workouts, and now I'm hooked. I paid a trainer to show me how to use each machine and to determine the correct setting which I think was money well spent.

We have done the exercises now for 2 weeks. We are both 65 and we have been exercising regularly for 3 years now and these exercises were really difficult and we both felt the muscles for several days after. We really like this book. This is not easy exercises even though you might think it would be easy but it seems to be very effective. Thanks!

Imagine exercising only once a week. I followed the exercise to the letter and used the recommended recipe for a nourishing drink to help muscles rebuild. Great way to exercise for us older people that don't go to gyms anymore. You can do everything easily at home.

Lots of background justification for a simple workout concept. One month in it seems to work. You can feel results the first day. You know you have done work. Like all routines modify it to what works best for you but you will definitely spend less time lifting and less time doing warm up weights and warm up work outs

I think if I were a beginner into fitness I could be mis-directed with some of the exercise descriptions.He has certain names for exercises that some machines use alternate names...This is short sited in my opinion for a fitness trainer.I just started on the system and am figuring out the workout.I do like the options of once a week instead of hitting the gym 3X per week, since I am getting older and my body is feeling the wear.

I actually bought this book because I had set out to buy "The Cardio-Free Diet", by Jim Karas. I found out about Slow Burn and bought it, too, as well as the 2 Protein Power books.I have been doing a cardio workout on a stationery bike for about 5 years. I have been spending over three hours a week, and am no longer happy with the results. It seemed no longer to be doing anything. Reading this book told me why.The Karas approach and the Slow Burn approach are very similar. However, the diet part of Mr. Karas program is not workable for me. I have been a low carber for 6 years and have lost 86 pounds. Mr. Karas' diet approach is low-fat/low-calorie/low-protein/sort of low-carb. See a pattern there? I could never follow that program without ruining my diet efforts. Slow Burn was written by Fred Hahn, the fitness expert, and the Drs. Eades, experts on the low carbohydrate diet. For anyone who is or wants to be low carb, this is the one to buy.Also, I haven't actually started my Slow Burn workouts yet. It took me a couple of months to read all my books. For the Slow Burn program there is not much one has to buy, but I do still need a couple of things so I haven't started yet. Reading the other comments about people's results in just a month or two has recharged me! I'm looking forward to jumping in.
